You will visit the colorful stalls and your guide will tell you about some of the many different fruit, vegetable, fish and meat on sale. Venice’s fish market is the oldest in Europe that is still operational today.
As in most of Italy, the best things in Venice often involve food. Your will discover the wonderful delights to be found in the market; olives form nearby Lake Garda, cow cheese from the highlands of Asiago, soft polenta chunks served with marinated seafood, cuttlefish, stockfish and much more. The areas surrounding Venice are the largest wine producing regions in Italy and all food will be accompanied by famous regional wines.
As well as the food you will discover quaint alleys, hidden canals, enter ancient bars and shops and have the opportunity to talk to their proprietors as you taste their specialties. You will visit the Rialto Bridge, Campo San Bartolomeo, see Marco Polo’s house and the magnificent palaces that look onto the Grand Canal.
This tour is a super combination of food, wine and sightseeing. Something for all the family! You won’t need lunch as you will taste a number of specialties from pasta to desert, posecco to regional wines at the more than 6 different eateries you visit. This gourmet walk through Venice ends in one of Venice’s most popular squares, Campo San Giovanni e Paolo. Here you will see the magnificent church that hosted the funerals of the city leaders, the Doges.
