You will visit the Unesco world heritage sites of the center, the Duomo of Florence, otherwise known as the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, and the gigantic artisticly important bronze doors of the Baptistry with the relief sculptures. The Baptistry was where the Italian poet Dante Alighieri and many other Renaissance figures, including members of the Medici family, were baptised.
On piazza del Duomo you will also hear about Giotto’s Campanile, the famous bell tower that stands at a height of 85 meters with seven huge bells.
You’ll get a chance to drop a coin in the Florentine tradition in the Porcellino fountain by the Leather Market, and admire the Arno river from Ponte Vecchio, the Old Bridge, the oldest and uniquely authentic bridge of the city situated in the jewelers’ district.
On Piazza della Signoria, overlooking the gorgeous Signoria Palace and surrounded by countless statues, you’ll have the feeling of being in an open door museum.
The Santa Croce convent is also known as the Temple of the Italian Glories, with a gloomy history of being the burial grounds of many famous Italians, such as Galileo, Michelangelo, and Machiavelli.
